Abstract

My latest abstract series is “The Haves & Have Not.” Universal concepts of form, mass, proportion, rhythm, and structure constitute a common thread in this series. Using patterns, textures, and repetition in these paintings was essential for inspiring me to develop limitless forms and engage in artmaking by contemplating color to create new narratives and interpretations. The pieces are densely layered, and the process of creating each one generally follows a particular order. I aim at endless transformations of color, form, and composition, reacting against gestures or principles of picture-making to create new patterns.
