Mixed Media and Collage

I approach the canvas by examining current psychological and physical manifestations through carefully selected materials, methods, and juxtapositions. My mixed media work addresses global political, social, environmental, human rights, and global climate crisis concerns. These issues are represented by shaping the lives of my characters. These preconceived notions, such as trepidation, anger, alienation, hope, despair, or fantasy, convey the characters’ vulnerability and defiance, as seen in my paintings. This process guides me by developing the rest of my art themes as it forms an improvisational style. Female figures are prominent in my artwork. The collage technique allows me to dig into a variety of techniques such a block of cut and glued color, adding literal layers from old newspapers, dictionaries and magazines, or even found objects on street
